I will review one, 1 Corinthians 1:23 shows we preach Christ crucified, the Greek definition of crucified is to impale on the cross- figuratively, to extinguish (subdue) passion or selfishness:--crucify. By definition figurative language is new insights into the objects or subjects in the work. New insight is the insight God wants us to have and the old insight of being impaled on the cross is true but not what God wants us to focus on. To extinguish (subdue) passion or selfishness is to deny self and He can live in us and we are following in His footsteps same as when He denied self unto death on the cross.
